Top Ten Best Books of 2016

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created at The Broke and the Bookish. You can find a new list of Top Ten things on their blog every at midnight on Tuesday.

Today’s Top Ten Tuesday is quite exciting! I get to talk about the best books that I read this year. There are a few books in this list that I love more than others but for the most part, the list has no order. I know I’ve been a bit MIA but I just had to post this today. I was too excited to talk about my favorites of the year!

(Now before anyone says anything, not all of these book came out in 2016. Some are but the others are just books that I picked up and ended up loving.)

Here we go!

A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas

If you know me, you know that I am STILL obsessed with this book. I think ACOMAF is my favorite book of the year. Everything about this book was perfect. I honestly cannot wait for A Court of Wings and Ruin. May 2017 needs to hurry the hell up cause I can’t even deal.

Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare

I love everything dealing with our favorite Shadowhunters and this was perfect. It’s so nice to continue the story and see more of this world.

Empire of Storms by Cassandra Clare

I’m still not okay with this book but I still loved it none the less. I’m sad and scared about what is going to happen in the next book. But I will say, this book exceeded my expectations.

It Ends with Us by Colleen Hoover

This is such a beautiful novel. Just this year, I was introduced to Colleen Hoover and I’m obsessed with her writing. Everything about this book was perfect. I laughed, I cried, and the story stayed with me for weeks.

Stalking Jack the Ripper by Kerri Maniscalco

THIS BOOK! I should have put it higher on the list but oh well. I love love loveee this book. I can’t even begin to describe how much I love this book. Pick it up and read it. It’ll change your life. I promise.

The Raven King by Maggie Stiefvater

I loved this series. I think the The Raven King was my favorite of the four, but the series as a whole is incredible. It has so many elements thrown into one story. I love Maggie Stiefvater’s writing style.

Passenger by Alexandra Bracken

I’m a sucker for time travel and a good romance. I was lucky because this book has both! I fell in love with Alex Bracken’s writing with The Darkest Minds and she did not disappoint with Passenger. I can’t wait for Wayfarer.

Tiger’s Curse by Colleen Houck

I picked the first book in the series because this was my favorite out of all of them. The entire arc of the story from book one to book four is such a great and epic journey. I feel like this is Colleen Houck at her best.

The Lovely Reckless by Kami Garcia

Bad boys, illegal car racing, true love…what more could you want? This book was fantastic. It was sexy, smart, and down right perfect. I loved every second of this!

Lover Awakened by J. R. Ward

I became obsessed with the Black Dagger Brotherhood this year and I don’t regret a second of it. This was my favorite book in the series so far…now, I do have many books left to go so who knows. But I love Z. He’s my favorite and this book confirmed our love.

Border 10

So there you go. That was fun! It was kind of like a trip down memory lane and revisiting my fave books of the year just made me happy. I mean, now I want to reread many of the book listed above…

I hope ya’ll have a great rest of the holiday season!

See you all in 2017!

Top Ten Tuesday Rewind: Fictional Crushes

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created at The Broke and the Bookish. You can find a new list of Top Ten things on their blog every at midnight on Tuesday.

This week is a rewind week. A list of old topics can be found here. I chose to do my top ten fictional crushes. Just know, it was really hard choosing a topic this week. There were so many good choices.

Border 10

To be honest, I have A LOT of fictional crushes. I think anyone who truly enjoys a book may have a crush on one of the characters. I just become so invested in a book that I start to crush on a characters actions. That’s what good about fictional crushes, we know them through their thoughts and actions. It isn’t necessary the way they look, it’s about how they act.

Enough talking, let’s get on with it then. (This list is not in a specific order. I love them all equally.)

  1. Liam Stewart from The Darkest Minds. I love Liam. From the first time he comes into the story, he stole my heart. He’s southern, hilarious, and such a precious human being. And him saying “darlin'”…… oh my.
  2. Rhys from A Court of Mist and Fury. MY GOSH. I’m still reeling from this book and it came out months ago. I love him. He is such a passionate person. I love the relationship he has with the people he loves. He has sacrificed so much. He deserves the world.
  3. Rowan from the Throne of Glass series. I feel like you either like Rowan or you don’t. I like Rowan from the first time we met him. He is strong and willing to do anything for those he cares for. Don’t hate him! HE DOESN’T DESERVE IT!
  4. Aaron Warner from the Shatter Me series. This man is everything to me. I was Team Warner from the first time we met him. I knew it. I love him, ugh.
  5. Gansey from The Raven Boys. I’m a sucker for preppy boys and he meets all of those qualities. I also love his sense of adventure and his loyalty.
  6. Will Herondale from The Infernal Devices. Anytime there is a sassy, attractive Shadowhunter, you can be sure that I will love them. Will is no different. He’s loyal and fiercely passionate.
  7. Jace Wayland/Lightwood/Herondale from The Mortal Instruments. I can’t NOT mention Jace. I mean, come on. I love Jace. I wish I knew someone like him.
  8. Ren from the Tiger’s Curse series. From book one, I love Ren. He was my favorite out of the two brothers. He’s sweet, caring, and a badass prince.
  9. Day from the Legend series. Daniel Wing is just everything. I think about him sometimes at random moments. He is such an all around amazing person. Day is such an inspirational character. I learned a lot from him. He will always mean a lot to me.
  10. Noah Shaw from the Mara Dyer trilogy. I read these books a while back and I still have a thing for Noah. From his French speaking to his overall sexiness, I will always have a soft spot for Noah Shaw.

There you go. It was really hard putting this list together. I had dig deep and picking just ten was nearly impossible. But I prevailed and the list is now complete.

Top Ten Things Books Have Made Me Want To Do or Learn About After Reading Them

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created at The Broke and the Bookish. You can find a new list of Top Ten things on their blog every at midnight on Tuesday.

This weeks Top Ten Tuesday is to list ten things that books made me want to do or learn about after reading them. I can say that while I’m reading a book, I become at least 70% of that character. I want to learn what they do, I want to do what they do, and I want to live the way they do. So you can about imagine how many things I’ve wanted to do or learn. I narrowed them down to ten of the best things.

Here we go!

Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia & Margaret Stohl made me want to become a Caster. I would like to believe that I would be claimed by the light so I would be a good Caster and use my powers for good. I know it’s unrealistic, but hey, it would be pretty cool.

The Fault in Our Stars by John Green made me want to visit Amsterdam. I had never really thought about visiting there before I read this book. And especially after watching the movie, I made sure Amsterdam is on my list of places I want to go!

Divergent by Veronica Roth made me want to be dauntless. When I say dauntless, I wanted to be brave, unafraid, and strong.

Tiger’s Curse by Colleen Houck made me want to take up martial arts. I never did, but I had looked into it and tried to find a studio. Another thing that came out of these books is an interest in India and their gods. I wanted to learn about the gods and the places they visited.

The Infernal Devices series by Cassandra Clare made me interested in Steampunk and 1800’s London. After reading that series, I wanted to learn everything I could about that time period. I also wanted to play the violin like Jem.

The Maze Runner by James Dashner made me want to get off the couch and go running. While reading this series, I would go walk/run a few miles everyday. To this day, if I’m on a walk or I decide to go run and I get tired, I imagine myself next to Thomas and Mino. (Weird, but it’s motivation…)

Passenger by Alexandra Bracken made me want to travel. Not necessarily time travel, but just travel. I got a serious case of wanderlust after reading this book.

Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling made me want to go to a super awesome wizarding private school. Who doesn’t want to go to Hogwarts? Come on!

The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater made me want to get my palm read. I have been to New Orleans once when I was younger and some lady read my palm but I don’t remember what she said. I would like to go back and have a reading done again.

November 9 by Colleen Hoover made me want to fall in love. I read this book recently and it made me want to find someone who will love me like Ben loved Fallon. (I’m still not over that book. I cried for hours.)

And there you have it. That is my list of ten things I wanted to learn or do after reading about them in a book. Of course, my list is a lot longer but these are a few that stuck with me.

Comment below and tell me something that you always wanted to learn or do after reading a book.

Bye, ya’ll!
