I know I’ve been MIA for a while and I promise to get better. I have a few book reviews lined up for the rest of the month and I will be doing a cool giveaway on my Instagram very soon!

Enough talking, let’s get on with it!

The Lovely Reckless | Kami Garcia

27414434

I’ve become an expert at avoiding things that could hurt me—which means I will figure out how to stay away from Marco Leone.

Seventeen-year-old Frankie Devereux would do anything to forget the past. Haunted by the memory of her boyfriend’s death, she lives her life by one dangerous rule: Nothing matters. At least, that’s what Frankie tells herself after a reckless mistake forces her to leave her privileged life in the Heights to move in with her dad—an undercover cop. She transfers to a public high school in the Downs, where fistfights don’t faze anyone and illegal street racing is more popular than football.

Marco Leone is the fastest street racer in the Downs. Tough, sexy, and hypnotic, he makes it impossible for Frankie to ignore him—and how he makes her feel. But the risks Marco takes for his family could have devastating consequences for them both. When Frankie discovers his secret, she has to make a choice. Will she let the pain of the past determine her future? Or will she risk what little she has left to follow her heart?

Melody’s Key | Dallas Coryell

30807954

“His eyes settled on her…piercing green embers of flame that revealed the ferocity of his pain and passion, yet still shrouded him under veils of ever deepening mystery that made every ounce of her ache to unravel him.”

Tegan Lockwood’s dreams were dead, sacrificed on the noble altar of duty before they ever had a chance to live. Her entire existence was disappearing into the abyss of apathy as she labored her days away keeping her family’s struggling business alive. There would be no emotion, no color, no beauty in her life. That is, until a mysterious visitor begins to draw her out of the darkness of her past towards something that will challenge the boundaries of her world, and unlock the most deeply held secrets of her heart.

Mailbox Monday #2

Mailbox Monday is the gathering place for readers to share the books that came in their mailbox during the last week. This is a weekly meme at Mailbox Monday. Link up and check out everyone else’s post!

It’s been a while since I did a Mailbox Monday. I haven’t gotten many books in the mail over the past few months. I buy a lot of ebooks but not too many physical books. I decided to do a post on the few books I got recently.

I’m a bit late to finding Colleen Hoover and wow! I’ve never fallen in love with an author so quickly. I read Hopeless in one day. Ever since I read it, I’ve wanted to read all of them! So I’m so excited to read these three that I got in the post.

Confess– Colleen Hoover

Auburn Reed has her entire life mapped out. Her goals are in sight and there’s no room for mistakes. But when she walks into a Dallas art studio in search of a job, she doesn’t expect to find a deep attraction to the enigmatic artist who works there, Owen Gentry.

For once, Auburn takes a risk and puts her heart in control, only to discover Owen is keeping major secrets from coming out. The magnitude of his past threatens to destroy everything important to Auburn, and the only way to get her life back on track is to cut Owen out of it.

The last thing Owen wants is to lose Auburn, but he can’t seem to convince her that truth is sometimes as subjective as art. All he would have to do to save their relationship is confess. But in this case, the confession could be much more destructive than the actual sin…

Ugly Love– Colleen Hoover

17788401

When Tate Collins meets airline pilot Miles Archer, she knows it isn’t love at first sight. They wouldn’t even go so far as to consider themselves friends. The only thing Tate and Miles have in common is an undeniable mutual attraction. Once their desires are out in the open, they realize they have the perfect set-up. He doesn’t want love, she doesn’t have time for love, so that just leaves the sex. Their arrangement could be surprisingly seamless, as long as Tate can stick to the only two rules Miles has for her.

Never ask about the past.
Don’t expect a future.

They think they can handle it, but realize almost immediately they can’t handle it at all.

Hearts get infiltrated.
Promises get broken.
Rules get shattered.
Love gets ugly.

Maybe Someday– Colleen Hoover

Mailbox Monday #1

Mailbox Monday is the gathering place for readers to share the books that came in their mailbox during the last week. This is a weekly meme at Mailbox Monday. Link up and check out everyone else’s post!

This is my first Mailbox Monday! I thought it would be fun to do one of these a few times throughout the month. I got a few really cool books that I can’t wait to read in the mail a few days ago. I can’t wait to start them.

IMG_0776.JPG

Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead: I’m really excited about reading this series. I have been wanted to read it for some time now. I heard Christine (polandbananasBOOKS  from Youtube) talk about it once and I added it to my TBR instantly. I decided to get the box set because it’s easier than buying each one individually…and because I have a thing for box sets.

Lissa Dragomir is a Moroi princess: a mortal vampire with an unbreakable bond to the earth’s magic. The powerful blend of human and vampire blood that flows through Rose Hathaway, Lissa’s best friend, makes her a Dhampir. Rose is dedicated to a dangerous life of protecting Lissa from the Strigoi, who are hell-bent on making her one of them. Rose and Lissa must navigate through this dangerous world, confront the temptation of forbidden romance, and never once let their guard down, lest the Strigoi make Lissa one of them forever.

The Wrath and the Dawn by Renee Ahdieh: This book is gorgeous! I got this book on Bookoutlet on sale and I couldn’t be happier. I see it all over Instagram so I’m excited to find out what the hype is about.

Every dawn brings horror to a different family in a land ruled by a killer. Khalid, the eighteen-year-old Caliph of Khorasan, takes a new bride each night only to have her executed at sunrise. So it is a suspicious surprise when sixteen-year-old Shahrzad volunteers to marry Khalid. But she does so with a clever plan to stay alive and exact revenge on the Caliph for the murder of her best friend and countless other girls. Shazi’s wit and will, indeed, get her through to the dawn that no others have seen, but with a catch . . . she’s falling in love with the very boy who killed her dearest friend.
She discovers that the murderous boy-king is not all that he seems and neither are the deaths of so many girls. Shazi is determined to uncover the reason for the murders and to break the cycle once and for all.

Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo: Another super hyped book. I saw some really great reviews about this book that has me really interested in it. This was another Bookoutlet purchase. The cover is gorgeous! I can’t wait to dive into this series.

Surrounded by enemies, the once-great nation of Ravka has been torn in two by the Shadow Fold, a swath of near impenetrable darkness crawling with monsters who feast on human flesh. Now its fate may rest on the shoulders of one lonely refugee.
Alina Starkov has never been good at anything. But when her regiment is attacked on the Fold and her best friend is brutally injured, Alina reveals a dormant power that saves his life—a power that could be the key to setting her war-ravaged country free. Wrenched from everything she knows, Alina is whisked away to the royal court to be trained as a member of the Grisha, the magical elite led by the mysterious Darkling.
Yet nothing in this lavish world is what it seems. With darkness looming and an entire kingdom depending on her untamed power, Alina will have to confront the secrets of the Grisha . . . and the secrets of her heart.
Shadow and Bone is the first installment in Leigh Bardugo’s Grisha Trilogy. This title has Common Core connections.
